March was a fantastic reading month with some epic books! I read some absolute gems, had a few surprises, and a personal milestone… I actually finished my book club book! Small Things Like These

Brief but beautifully written, I devoured it on a single train journey. Keegan’s writing is so engaging and full of little details; she takes her time setting the scene so vividly that I felt completely transported. But then, just as the action started, it was over. I wanted more! The most intriguing part of the story for me was what happens next, and I was left hanging. Also, I had no idea that the Magdalen laundries in Ireland were still in operation until 1996!

Tuesdays with Morrie

This one has been recommended to me so many times, and I finally got around to it. It did not disappoint. A short but deeply meaningful book about what truly matters in life. I hadn’t enjoyed The Five People You Meet in Heaven at all, so I had been hesitant to read this but I’m so glad I gave Albom another go. And to everyone who told me to read this… you were absolutely right!

Him

I landed on this audiobook purely because I love Kirk’s DCI Jack Logan series, and it turned out to be a brilliant listen. Narrated by David Tennant and Louise Brealey, it’s a gripping thriller and a cautionary tale about AI and our tech-obsessed world.

The Circle

I really thought this would be a 5-star read. A dystopian look at social media and surveillance culture sounded right up my street. But while the plot was strong, the characters were so underdeveloped that I just didn’t care. By the time I finished all 491 pages, I still had no idea what the protagonist’s motivations were...and worse, I didn’t want to know.

The Night Circus

This was a beautiful book...part Shakespearean fantasy, part fairy tale for adults. It’s full of magic and mystery, dreams and nightmares, allegory and symbolism. A truly enchanting antidote to reality, and exactly what I needed.
